  1. Here are some brief notes about Comm 1.34 which may help new users. They
  2. are intended to supplement the main Comm.Doc file which is quite lengthy.

  4. The easiest way to run Comm 1.34 is to reboot using this disk instead of
  5. Workbench.
  6.  
  7. After it has booted up,choose the split screen menu option.  For some reason,
  8. Kickstart 1.3 gives a split screen about half way up, but 1.2 puts the split
  9. much nearer the bottom of the screen.
  10.  
  11. For Amtor, I suggest loading key macros. When file requester appears, delete
  12. comm and substitute PK232. This will load macro functions but you will first
  13. need to edit the file PK232.Keys. Just use Emacs to edit to your
  14. requirements. F10 is set at the moment to send +? CR i.e. the Amtor c/o.

  16. To get into CLI after booting, just select `quit' which will give you the
  17. usual prompt 1> then use CLI by typing in what you need. e.g. Emacs for the 
  18. editor or TYPE filename to read an ASCII file. Don't forget you may need to 
  19. type in cd df0: or cd df1: OR cd comm if you want to see the dir of either
  20. drive or the program Comm. To return to Comm. 1.34 from CLI just type
  21. comm/comm.

  23. Printer may be toggled on/off at any time using left Amiga key and p key 
  24. together. This starts/stops simultaneous hard copy of what is on the screen.
  25. You may need to add the appropriate printer driver to devs/printers directory.

  27. To get preferences on screen, just type preferences after CLI prompt 1>
  28.  
  29. To use the Emacs editor, just choose `visit file' menu option and type in the
  30. name of the file you want to edit, e.g. Comm.Notes for this file or
  31. PK232.KEYS if you want to edit the macro keys.  I have left my macros on as
  32. an example to play around with.

  34. Don't forget, you can stop text scrolling if you need to by pressing the
  35. right mouse key.
